Belkin Omni View SE 4 Port KVM F1D104

I took some time to play with my Omni View SE today. While it is a little old, it’s still a solid device. It has multiple inputs on the rear, including all the inputs for the console, unlike cheaper KVMs that have some or all of the console inputs on the front. With a special cable, you can chain multiple Omni Views together. This unit requires male to female VGA cables and supports serial mice, for those that may still need that functionality. (Anyone?)

The front has multiple indicator lights, including four for chained Omni Views and one for each local port. Two buttons on the front allow you to switch ports from left to right, scan on a fixed interval, or reset the switch if something goes wrong. I haven’t had to reset the switch yet. (For comparison my Linxcel would reset itself all the time — Sometimes three times in one minute.)

I’d recommend this older KVM switch to anyone that doesn’t need support for USB devices or something that’s rackmount ready. It can be had on Ebay for quite a bit less than $80 as of this writing, if you get lucky.
