Rampant Lack of Professionalism

The emails and phone calls I have been getting of late from recruiters have been rather frightening. Is some vague command of the English language and proper grammar so much to ask? Do you really expect to be taken seriously when choice instant message abbreviations like ur, half sentences, incorrect capitalization, and Yahoo! Mail signature advertisements appear in official communications? Is this for real?

For example, I found this one entertaining:

We found your resume to be a very good match for this requirement .So do get back to me with your updated Resume as soon as Possible also give me the best contact number where i can reach you now. so that we can go ahead.

It seems someone’s shift and space bar keys aren’t working properly. It seems periods and capital letters were merely thrown in for good measure. They appear to be present in the correct proportions, so perhaps that’s close enough. Not math after all, eh?

Oh, here’s a cute one.

I am going through ur resume on dice for System Administration opening in
Florida. Please go through the requirement and send updated resume asap.

It seems someone uses AIM just a bit too often. Props for getting the periods in the correct places, though.

Oh, this one’s classic. There’s a typo in the subject line. Need I read any further?

Must be another instant messager user.

If I were to present correspondence like this stuff to a client I’d find myself sitting on the pavement with my ears ringing from the laugher that swept me out of the building.

So sad.
