I seem to have discovered the Solitare crowd today. Several people plugging away, hardly working. I’d surf the Web instead, but that’s just me.
Finally discussing IDS deployment.
It snowed this evening. It was quite lovely. I watched from within the eating establishment chosen for abuse in downtown Blacksburg this evening. It only started once we were inside. Small white flakes began falling at a rapid pace from above, blowing almost horizontally. I wandered outside to allow it to smack me in the face. It was somewhat entertaining, and very cold. After a few moments I brushed off the wet, not yet melted snow.
Later, after leaving the establishment, the sidewalk had iced. Wandering back to the car was an entertaining and challenging exercise. I managed to arrive unscathed only to find the car had frozen over. The windshield had a thick layer of frozen water and puffy snow on it, as did much of the car. Driving was a slow process, to avoid sliding around the road bouncing off objects.
Later as I sat in the Holiday Inn parking lot I watched the snow dance around in the parking lot across the street, blown away by the constant gusts of wind that evening. The fine, powdery snow would blow around on the pavement, like small creatures were crawling around, then bounce up into the air and circle around, before settling on the pavement, only to begin anew with the next gust. It was quite striking. Sadly the particles were far too small for my inexpensive digital camera to make anything useful of. Perhaps if I had a digital camcorder.
