Mozilla Thunderbird and LDAP, glimmer of hope

It looks like 1.6a may include a fully functional LDAP addressbook that supports the mythical address fields that I need to adopt Thunderbird and LDAP as my preferred frontend and backend stores respectively for contact information. (I tend to want to track people’s mailing addresses and such, too, which isn’t possible with the current [...]

gr8 picture trojan using AIM

I found this rather amusing, as it has been happening on IRC for more than a decade now. (Perhaps on ICQ and AIM as well, but the majority of people on my lists are clued users.)
Anyway, last night I get a strange IM.

Domino’s in Gainesville, employee mass exodus

Something strange has happened at the Domino’s on 13th street since July. When I was there last week, orders were backed up. Drivers walked in the delivery expert door without a word. Pizzas were taking longer to emerge. I didn’t recognize nearly anyone there.

* Pasteurize water for safe drinking, preventing many diseases.
* Save trees and other resources.

My Biostar Socket 754 NForce3 mainboard arrived today. For $50 as of this writing it’s about the cheapest Socket 754 mainboard you can obtain. It doesn’t sport any bells or whistles, just the entry level functionality you’d expect from an inexpensive mainboard.
The retail kit includes a floppy cable, ATA cable, manual, and I/O [...]

Upgraded Gallery2 and WordPress

I finally upgraded to WordPress 1.5.2.
Then, I upgraded to the latest Gallery2 release candidate, RC2, locally. As usual, a bunch of files changed, so I used rsync to neatly clean up any files that had been removed. I am still not sure why the G2 upgrade process merely warns you some files have [...]

eVGA 6600GT AGP Video Card Mini Review

My vanilla green PCB eVGA GeForce 6600GT AGP is a nice break from the previous two XFX 6600GT cards I had in my possession which both failed to function on numerous test systems. In stark contract to the XFX offering, the eVGA card worked immediately upon installation in my ECS K7S5A mainboard from several [...]
