This is a great XP machine.
Vista sucks by itself, regardless of the machine using it.
Just throw xp on your box and it should be golden.

I have had the T5082 for years with no issues but I did install 2 gig ram from the get go. I have been able to play WoW on it but not DC universe. With TOR coming out I want to upgrade the graphics card to run it. Can I get a graphics card with out upgrading the PS? Or do I have to do both no matter what? Any suggestions on what I can get? I see many different cards in the thread but most don't say if and what PS they installed. I know not every PS will fit in a emachine from looking at other sites...any advice would be appreciated.

after boosting ram to 2gigs and adding a ati radeon hd 4350, this thing runs great! I can actually play xp-era games on medium to max graphics, depending on the game.

Mon PC a un problème audio. J'aimerais remédier cette panne. Sur mon PC, un windows XP y est installé. Donc j'aimerais avoir un driver qui lui serait compatible. Déjà, je vous remercie

I have had this computer for over 2 years and once I got rid of the mcafee and tweaked vista, it ran great. I have since upgraded to windows 7 ultimate with no problems. This is my third Emachines and I have been happy with all of them.

Ok I have read everybody complaining about this emachines t5082 being crappy, slow and this and that dont run right with this or that.Well you get what you buy.Sure it was cheap.I bought mine for $398.00 brand new.I have had this t5082 computer since march of 2007 and yes almost 3 years later Im still running it as fast as can be and no problems anymore. All it takes is alittle know how to fix things and using the internet to find the right things.Ok first buy an after market graphics card with 1gb mem an install in the pci express slot.Runs about $70.00,next buy a sound card runs about $30.00,next buy 2 1gb ddr2 ram mods. They run about $25.00 each and you can buy all these parts for these prices at "geeks.com".Next your processor is upgradable aswell for the motherboard in the t5082.This runs about $60.00 also at "geeks.com".After all these little things and $200.00 more you have a computer that you can run with vista for 5 more years worry free.Hope this helps.

Had this machine for years. I put it up in the attic after using it of 6 mos. because it was slow and a piece of crap. I brought it out after over 2 yrs. of storage and hoped it would age well like a fine wine.... WRONG..... it was still slow as crap and full of problems. I ran into this blog stream and did most of what everyone here suggested... (upgraded RAM, deleted crap programs, adjusted performance settings like power saving, and a few other things)......

So now my T5082 is faster than any of my older computers running XP. It only cost me about an hours worth of time and $60 bucks for 2GB of RAM. Thanks guys for the comments. Most were right on. I won't say I love this computer but am liking it much better than when I bought it.
